Mornings can be the best time of day to include meditation. As you know, in the morning the nature is very calm and quiet. Moreover, in the afternoons you are more overloaded with activities.

When you start your day with a morning meditation, you are blessing yourself with the best opportunity of the day. You will be more aware, more awake, and more alive before “doing” anything.

Meditation can be beneficial at any hour of the day, but there are certain benefits of a short morning meditation becoming as in-built in your routine just like a cup of morning tea.

You can meditate at any time of the day or night, but scientific studies suggest that the ideal time to meditate is first thing in the morning. The benefits of meditation are enhanced when your mind is free and clear before the stresses of the day have stolen your peace.

Research confirms the benefits of relaxation and meditation. Current findings indicate that slow breathing causing alpha brainwaves (frequencies from 8 – 14 hertz or cycles per second). This alpha brainwave in the morning improves your mental efficiency and emotional stability.

  1. Set your alarm and give yourself 5 to 10 minutes extra time. This means  – you can wake up at 5:45 instead of 6:00.
  2. Choose a place where you won’t be disturbed. It’s important to meditate in a quiet space.

  4. Take a seat and feel the calmness and the peace within you.
  5. Witness your thoughts,  emotions,  and breaths.
  6. Be kind to yourself and others
  7. Become aware of the external environment: of the chair beneath you, where your feet make contact with the floor, your arms and your hands resting in your lap. Notice anything you can hear, smell, taste or feel.
  8. When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes.
